Bill Salkeld launched 2 homeruns and had 5 RBI at Yankee Stadium where the New
York Yankees beat the Cleveland Indians by the score of 14 to 7.

Salkeld had a big evening at the plate.  He bombed a two-run dinger in the 7th
inning and smashed a two-run homer in the 8th inning.  New York dominated
offensively as they scored in 6 different innings.  

The victory was credited to Johnny Vander Meer(1-2) who went 6 innings,
allowing 5 runs. Ned Garver recorded the save, his 1st.  Dave Koslo(0-1) was
charged with the loss.  He allowed New York 6 runs in 4 and 1/3 innings of
work.  

New York now has a record of 6-7.  With this loss, Cleveland has a 2-2 record
of late, 2-2 overall.
