In a close game the Cleveland Indians got by the Kansas City Athletics by the
score of 4 to 2.

In the 7th inning Cleveland scored 2 runs.  Willie Jones kicked off the action
when he stroked a base-hit.  Fred Hatfield stepped up to the plate and he
ripped a single.  Bob Boyd then laid down a sacrifice bunt.  Al Kaline was up
next and he reached on an error which scored a run.  Ted Williams came up to
bat and hit a deep fly scoring the final run of the inning.  Cleveland
totaled 7 hits on the night.  

Tom Sturdivant(2-1) was the winner allowing no runs in 1 and 1/3 innings. Bud
Byerly preserved the game for Sturdivant, recording his his 5th save.  Bob
Lemon(2-1) took the loss.  By surrending 4 runs in 7 and 1/3 innings his ERA
jumped from 1.06 to 1.48.
