Philadelphia Athletics broke the deadlock in their last at bats, pulling out
a 8 to 6 win over the Chicago Cubs and sending their hometown fans home
smiling.

Philadelphia came up with the deciding runs in the 9th inning plating 2 runs.
Bill Carrigan kicked off the action when he drew a walk.  Bert Humphries came
next and he laid down a sacrifice bunt.  Home Run Baker then smashed a
two-run homer making Philadelphia the victors to the delight of the home town
faithful.  The game was a wild affair with the lead changing hands 5 times.

The win was credited to Humphries(3-0) who went 1 inning allowing no runs. Al
Mamaux(2-1) took the loss in relief.  He pitched 1 and 1/3 innings allowing 1
hit and 1 walk.
