Early Wynn went 9 strong innings as the Pittsburgh Pirates defeated the
Chicago-NL Cubs by the score of 2 to 1 at Forbes Field.

Wynn(4-1) was indeed brilliant as he hand-cuffed the Chicago-NL offense. He
didn't allow much, just 5 hits and 1 walk in 9 innings lowering his ERA from
2.90 to 2.47. Pittsburgh totaled 8 hits on the afternoon.

Don Kaiser(0-2) was the losing pitcher. Andy Spector was very impressed with
his pitcher, Wynn, 'He had unusually good pitch placement this afternoon. It
was almost unfair - but a beautiful game to watch from where I sat'
