Larry Doby cracked 3 homeruns and had 5 RBI and Tom Poholsky went 9 strong
innings at Yankee Stadium where the Cincinnati Reds beat the reeling New
York-AL Yankees by the score of 9 to 0.

Doby enjoyed a great day at the plate.  He lofted a three-run 'big-fly' in the
1st inning, ripped a solo home run in the 5th inning and cracked a solo
homerun in the 9th inning.  Cincinnati banged out 13 hits on the afternoon.

Poholsky(1-0) was credited with the shutout. Herm Wehmeier(0-2) was the losing
pitcher.  He served up 3 homeruns in his 4 and 1/3 innings.  

'I felt great out there today' Doby said.  'I was seeing the ball perfectly,
and I was right on it with my swing.
