In a thrilling finish the Cincinnati Reds won in dramatic fashion coming back
to beat the Detroit Tigers by the count of 13 to 12.
Cincinnati had the game winning rally in the bottom of the 9th inning when
they tallied 4 runs on 4 hits. The key offensive moment was provided by Ray
Schalk who elicited a roar from the hometown fans when he banged out a single
scoring two baserunners. This was a game of many highs and lows for the home
town fans, as the lead kept changing - 5 times in all.
The win was credited to Reb Russell(2-1) who went 3 innings allowing 4 runs.
The loss was charged to Doc Ayers(1-1) in relief.
