At Ebbets Field, the Brooklyn fans witnessed a great pitcher's duel.  Hal
Brown(1-0) finally bested his Cincinnati opposite, Tom Poholsky(1-2), by the
score of 2 to 1.

Brown gave a fine effort for Brooklyn.  He surrendered 4 hits and 1 walk in 7
innings.  The teams had been locked in a scoreless duel until the 6th inning.

Clem Labine was credited with his 3rd save.  Poholsky was charged with the
loss.  He pitched 7 innings and surrendered 5 hits and 3 walks.
