Hippo Vaughn pitched a complete game as the Boston Red Sox defeated the
Cincinnati Reds 5 to 4 at Fenway Park.

The game was won by Boston when they scored a run in the 8th inning.  Shoeless
Joe Jackson delivered a base-hit.  Jack Fournier followed next and he lashed
a single.  Hans Lobert then hit a deep fly scoring the run.  Boston and
Cincinnati each finished the afternoon with 9 hits.  

Vaughn(1-0) picked up the complete game victory, allowing 4 runs. Reb
Russell(0-1) ended up with the loss in relief.
