Ted Williams smacked 2 homeruns and Fred Hutchinson delivered 7 solid innings
as the Boston Red Sox clobbered the outmatched Philadelphia Phillies, 13 to
1.
Williams really 'lit it up' for Boston. He delivered a single in the 1st
inning, slapped a base-hit in the 3rd inning, bombed a two-run dinger in the
5th inning and caught a hold of a fastball for a Grand Slam homerun in the
6th inning. Boston out-hit Philadelphia for the game, 17 hits to 6.
Hutchinson(2-0) got the win allowing 1 run in 7 innings. Fred Sanford(0-1)
ended up with the loss. Boston knocked him around a bit, as he gave up 11
runs in 5 and 1/3 innings.
'I had a big day, but there's a lot of credit to go around' Williams said.
'We played well together as a team.'
