The Boston Red Sox defeated the Brooklyn Dodgers by a score of 7 to 4 at
Ebbets Field.
Brooklyn never recovered after Boston took the lead in the 2nd inning when
they came up with 2 runs on 2 hits. The highlight belonged to Duffy Lewis
who silenced Ebbets Field as he blasted a two-run home run. Boston banged
out 8 hits on the afternoon.
The victory went to Hippo Vaughn(2-1) who went 7 and 2/3 innings, allowing 3
runs. Christy Mathewson(0-1) was charged with the loss. He pitched 7 innings
giving up 8 hits and 1 walk.
