Jim Gilliam had 2 base hits as the Brooklyn Dodgers defeated the Cleveland
Indians 10 to 5 at Ebbets Field.

Brooklyn jumped out to the early lead in the first inning with 3 runs
utilizing 2 base hits.  Gilliam started the inning off right when he ripped a
base-knock.  Gilliam was running on the next pitch and he stole second.
After an out was recorded, Jackie Jensen then drew a walk.  One out later,
Walt Moryn came to bat and lost the ball over the fence for three runs.
Brooklyn banged out 10 hits on the afternoon.  

Bob Buhl(4-3) went 6 and 1/3 innings allowing 5 runs for the victory. Roger
Craig(2-2) was hit with the loss.  He allowed 9 hits and 3 walks in 5 and 1/3
innings.
