Jim Doyle hit a homerun and had 5 RBI as the Chicago Cubs outscored the New
York Giants 11 to 8.

Doyle led the offense for Chicago. He doubled bringing in a run in the 3rd
inning, lined a base-hit plating two runs in the 6th inning and smashed a
two-run homer in the 7th inning. New York threatened in the 9th but Chicago
was able to put down the rally.

The win went to Lew Richie(2-3) who allowed 7 runs in 8 and 2/3 innings. Red
Ames(3-2) took the loss. He was not very effective, surrendering 11 runs in
9 innings.

'Ahhh, that victory was surely needed. Man alive, things were getting awfully
grim,' noted Frank Chance. 'Now, we need to string a bunch of wins together
and turn things around!'
