Bill Sowders was able to finish what he started and was credited with a
complete game and Dan Brouthers had 4 hits and 5 RBI as the Boston Beaneaters
bested the Pittsburgh Alleghenys 22 to 13 at South End Grounds.

The Boston fans enjoyed the offense provided by Brouthers. He delivered a
single resulting in a run in the 2nd inning, tripled in the 5th inning,
delivered a base-hit in the 6th inning and doubled with all three baserunners
touching home in the 7th inning. Boston bats were hot in the 1st inning with
5 runs on 4 hits, the 2nd inning with 5 runs on 3 hits and the 7th inning
with 5 runs on 6 hits. Pittsburgh scored in 6 different innings, but their
shaky pitching kept them from victory.

The win was credited to Sowders(2-0) who went the whole way allowing 13 runs.
The losing pitcher was Al Maul(0-2). He allowed a few too many baserunners
giving up 22 hits and 8 walks in 8 innings.

With this win, Boston has a 9-6 record. They have been 6-4 lately.
Pittsburgh has a record of 11-7 after the loss.
