Both teams were tied at 6 runs apiece after nine innings. Pittsburgh came out on top in the 11th inning. Sam Crawford got things going when he drew a walk. Otto Knabe was next and he reached on an error. George McBride then laid down a sacrifice bunt. Ward Miller came up and he would hit into a fielders choice resulting in a run. Jack Dalton came to the plate and hit a deep fly scoring the final run of the inning. Pittsburgh won despite being out-hit by Chicago 13 hits to 10. The win was credited to Erskine Mayer(1-1) who went 4 and 1/3 innings allowing 5 runs. Red Oldham recorded his 1st save. Al Mamaux(5-3) absorbed the loss in relief. He was pinned with the loss despite not allowing an earned run in his 2 innings of work. 'It's been a rough ride lately, but this was a good win for us' said Ray Martin, 'Maybe this will put us back on track.'
