Right fielder Eddie Murphy had 4 hits and 2 RBI at Polo Grounds where the
Cincinnati Reds beat the New York Giants 4 to 2.

Red Ames(2-3) pitched well for Cincinnati in their victory.  He went 8 innings
allowing 9 hits and 3 walks improving his ERA from 5.46 to 4.78.  Cincinnati
rapped out 8 hits for the afternoon.  

Ames was helped out by Rankin Johnson who recorded his 5th save.  Bob
Shawkey(1-3) was the losing pitcher.  'I had a little blister on my index
finger before the game, but I thought it was nothing.' Ames said.  'I was
lucky I got a win because I couldn't put the ball where I wanted it.'
