Eddie Mathews left the yard and had 3 RBI and Robin Roberts pitched a complete
game as the Chicago-NL Cubs defeated the Brooklyn Dodgers by a score of 7 to
5 at Ebbets Field.

Chicago-NL took the lead for good in the 5th inning scoring one runner.
Despite losing, Brooklyn out-hit Chicago-NL 12 to 9.  

Roberts(2-1) lasted until the end allowing 5 runs for the win. Bob Buhl(3-3)
was the loser.  He pitched 7 innings giving up 7 hits and 1 walk.

'I had a little blister on my index finger before the game, but I thought it
was nothing.' Roberts said.  'I was lucky I got a win because I couldn't put
the ball where I wanted it.'
