Weldon Wyckoff didn't allow a hit until the 6th inning and Home Run Baker had
4 hits and 2 RBI as the New York Yankees were badly beaten by the
Philadelphia Athletics, 12 to 1.

Baker was a seemingly constant irritant to the hometown fans as he provided
much of the offense for the visitors. He doubled bringing in a run in the
1st inning, tripled in the 3rd inning, ripped a base-hit in the 6th inning
and doubled which plated a run in the 9th inning. The Philadelphia offense
smacked the New York pitching staff around, scoring in 8 of the 9 innings.

The victory was credited to Wyckoff(2-4) who went 6 and 2/3 innings, allowing
1 run. The right-handed Wyckoff lost his chance for a no-hitter when Doc
Cook singled with two outs in the 6th inning. Ray Keating(2-6) ended up with
the loss. He saw his ERA jump from 3.38 to 4.01 as gave up 8 runs in 6
innings.
