Red Smith hit 2 doubles at Navin Field where the streaking Detroit Tigers beat
the Washington Nationals by the score of 6 to 5.

Rube Bressler(4-0) contributed a very nice performance in relief. He allowed
only 1 hit and 1 walk in 2 innings. Washington had a chance in the 9th but
they came up short.

Bressler was helped out by Ernie Shore who recorded his 7th save. Bob
Harmon(3-4) absorbed the loss. He pitched 8 innings giving up 15 hits and no
walks.

Detroit added another win to their now very impressive winning streak.
