Jeff Tesreau went 9 solid innings at Shibe Park as the strong Philadelphia
Athletics staged a comeback win over the ice-cold Boston Red Sox by the count
of 3 to 2.

Philadelphia had the winning rally in the bottom of the 9th inning with 2 runs
utilizing 2 base hits. After an out was recorded, Zack Wheat got things
going when he doubled. One out later, Chick Gandil came to bat and doubled
plating a run. George Gibson then reached on an error giving Philadelphia
the victory as 3,912 happy fans celebrated wildly. The teams had been locked
in a scoreless duel until the 6th inning.

The win went to Tesreau(7-4) who allowed 2 runs in the game. The losing
pitcher was Mellie Wolfgang(1-4) in relief. Andy Spector was all smiles
after the ballgame, 'It sure was looking pretty dim there for a while, but
our guys never gave up - and neither did our fans - they kept cheering us on.
What a sweet win!'
