The Chicago Cubs and the hapless New York Giants locked up in an exciting
one-run game at West Side Park. The final score was the Chicago Cubs 3, the
hapless New York Giants 2 in 10 innings.
The score was tied at 2 after nine. Chicago ended up winning it in the 10th
inning. Bill McKechnie stroked a single. Rube Oldring was next and he
slapped a one-base hit. Donie Bush then laid down a sacrifice bunt. Chief
Meyers followed next and he drew a walk to load the bases. One out later,
Walter Barbare came to bat and drew a walk making Chicago the winners and
sending the 5,067 fans home happy. Chicago had 10 hits overall, while New
York had 4.
