Lew Burdette tossed a complete game shutout at Griffith Stadium as the very
strong Kansas City Athletics beat the Washington Nationals by the count of 4
to 0.

Burdette(11-2) gave Kansas City a solid outing.  He allowed just 6 hits and 1
walk in 9 innings improving his ERA from 2.84 to 2.61.  Kansas City had a
