Catcher Smoky Burgess smacked 2 homeruns and had 4 RBI as the New York-AL
Yankees topped the Cincinnati Reds by a score of 7 to 6 at Yankee
Stadium.

The home town fans were very appreciative of the fine hitting performance
provided by Burgess. He slapped a single in the 1st inning, belted a
three-run homer in the 3rd inning, smashed a bases-empty 'big-fly' in the 4th
inning and slapped a base-hit in the 7th inning. New York-AL and Cincinnati
each finished the afternoon with 13 hits.

The win went to Herm Wehmeier(4-4) who allowed 2 runs in 6 innings. Don Gross
earned the save, his 4th. Tom Poholsky(3-6) was the losing pitcher. By
giving up 7 runs in 5 innings his ERA increased from 4.32 to 4.90.

With this win, New York-AL has a 20-36 record. They have been 5-5 lately.
Rob Hickok was unhappy with his club's recent performance. 'We can't keep
losing games' he said. 'It gets to be embarrassing after a while.'
