Right fielder Eddie Murphy had 4 hits and 2 RBI at Shibe Park where the
Cincinnati Reds beat the Philadelphia Athletics 5 to 4.

Red Ames(7-7) pitched well for Cincinnati in their victory.  He went 7 innings
and surrended up 6 hits and 3 walks.  Philadelphia threatened in the 9th but
Cincinnati was able to put down the rally.  

Rankin Johnson was credited with his 16th save.  Guy Morton(0-1) was the loser
in relief.  He was a hard-luck loser as he did not allow an earned run in his
2 innings of work.
