Harry Howell was able to finish what he started and was credited with a
complete game and left fielder Joe Kelley had 2 base hits as the Brooklyn
Superbas defeated the Cincinnati Reds 7 to 4 at Washington Park.

Brooklyn scored 3 runs in the decisive bottom of the 7th inning with the help
of 3 hits.  The big moment was provided by Lave Cross who brought the crowd
to their feet when he ripped a base-knock plating two runs.  Brooklyn totaled
10 hits on the afternoon.  

The winning pitcher was Howell(2-1) who allowed 4 runs for the game. Doc
Newton(4-4) was given the loss.  He gave up 10 hits and 3 walks in 8 innings.
