Shortstop Art Fletcher had 2 base hits as the amazing Philadelphia Athletics
defeated the Washington Nationals in 13 innings 3 to 2 at Shibe Park.

The score was knotted at 2 after nine innings.  Philadelphia ended up winning
it in the 13th inning.  Jimmy Walsh hit a single.  Walsh was running on the
next pitch and he stole second.  Howie Shanks then slapped a single.  Home
Run Baker followed next and he delivered a single giving Philadelphia the win
as 5,003 happy fans joyfully celebrated.  Philadelphia had 13 hits for the
game and Washington had 9.  

Pat Ragan(3-2) allowed no runs in 1 inning, and picked up the victory.
Boardwalk Brown(0-1) took the loss in relief.  He pitched 2 innings allowing
3 hits and 1 walk.
