In a dramatic ending the Cincinnati Reds staged a comeback and held on to win
over the Brooklyn Dodgers by the count of 4 to 3.

Cincinnati had the game winning rally in the top of the 9th inning scoring 2
runs using 2 hits. After two were out Jack Shepard keyed the rally when he
ripped a base-knock. Larry Doby came next and he lifted one out of the park
for a two run home run. Cincinnati had a total of 8 hits for the game.

Don Bessent(2-2) went 2 innings allowing no runs for the win. Bessent got
relief help from Nellie King who gained credit for his 7th save. Lou
Sleater(0-1) was given the loss in relief.

'I pin this one on my own shoulders,' Sleater said. 'The bottom line is I
didn't get the job done. Our fans deserve better than this.'
