Old Hoss Radbourn was able to finish what he started and was credited with a
complete game at South End Grounds as the Boston Beaneaters beat the
Washington Nationals 6 to 5.

Boston started with a bang, jumping out to an early lead in their half of the
first scoring 4 runners on 3 hits. The critical plate appearance was by Joe
Hornung who came through for the home fans when he tripled bringing in two
baserunners. Boston took care of Washington with no trouble in the 9th.

Radbourn(3-4) was the winner allowing 5 runs for the game. Jim Whitney(5-7)
absorbed the loss. He surrendered 6 runs and 8 hits in 8 innings.

'I struggled a bit out there today,' Radbourn said, 'but I toughed it out and
we got the win.'
