The Brooklyn Dodgers topped the Chicago Cubs by the slimmest of margins, 3 to 2. Phil Douglas(8-7) delivered a fine performance for Brooklyn. He surrendered 3 hits and 3 walks in 6 innings. Chicago threatened in the 9th but their rally came up short. Douglas was helped out by George McQuillan who recorded his 10th save. Larry Cheney(7-8) was hit with the loss. He was hit hard and gave up 9 hits and 7 walks in 6 and 2/3 innings. 'We just made a lot of mistakes, mostly mental,' Lee Palmer said. 'It's bad enough when the other team beats you, but when you start beating yourselves, that's really bad.'
