Butch Schmidt cracked a homer and had 2 RBI and Russ Ford took a no-hitter
into the 7th inning as the Chicago Cubs bested the Brooklyn Dodgers 7 to 0 at
West Side Park.

Ford(11-10) dominated Brooklyn hitters.  He allowed just 4 hits and 1 walk in
9 innings.  The right-handed Ford had his no-hit bid broken up by Eddie
Collins who singled with nobody out in the 7th inning.  Chicago rapped out 12
hits for the afternoon.  

Jeff Pfeffer(9-9) was the losing pitcher.  He surrendered 10 hits and 1 walk
in 7 innings.  'I thought it was my best performance in a long time,' said
Ford. 'I had good command early in the game. I had my control and composure
and everything went well.'
