The Brooklyn Dodgers edged the Washington Nationals in 11 innings at Ebbets
Field by the score of 6 to 5.

Both teams were tied at 5 runs apiece after nine innings.  Brooklyn ended up
winning it in the 11th inning.  Al Smith stroked a base-hit.  Walt Dropo was
next and he drew a walk.  Roy McMillan then drew a walk to load the bases.
Jackie Brandt followed and he ripped a one-base hit making Brooklyn the
winners and sending the 27,383 fans home happy.  Brooklyn had a total of 14
hits for the game.  

Stu Miller(5-3) allowed no runs in 1/3 of an inning, and picked up the
victory. Joe Nuxhall(1-1) was the loser in relief.  He allowed 1 run and 4
hits in 2 innings.
