Catcher Elston Howard hit 2 doubles and had 2 RBI as the Chicago-NL Cubs
rallied impressively to win in dramatic style over Pittsburgh Pirates, 8 to
7.

Chicago-NL came up with the deciding runs in the bottom of the 9th inning with
2 runs on 2 hits.  Bobby Del Greco initiated the scoring when he clubbed a
solo home run.  Duke Snider followed and he reached on an error.  After
another out, Eddie Mathews got his turn next, but he was a strikeout victim.
Howard followed next and he ripped a one-base hit resulting in an exciting
win for Chicago-NL and a raucous post-game celebration by the home town fans.
Despite losing, Pittsburgh out-hit Chicago-NL 14 to 9.  

Vito Valentinetti(4-3) was the winner allowing 2 runs in 1 and 1/3 innings.
Jack Harshman(3-5) was the loser in relief.  He pitched 1 and 2/3 innings
giving up 4 hits and no walks.
