Shortstop Ernie Banks cracked 2 homeruns and had 4 RBI as the Chicago-NL Cubs
defeated the Pittsburgh Pirates by a score of 7 to 5 at Wrigely Field.

Banks provided much of the offense.  He bombed a two-run dinger in the 3rd
inning, blasted a two-run home run in the 5th inning and tripled in the 7th
inning.  Chicago-NL out-hit Pittsburgh for the game, 10 hits to 7.  

The win was credited to Mike Garcia(7-6) who went 5 innings allowing 4 runs.
Garcia got help from Vito Valentinetti who earned his 4th save.  Dick
Donovan(5-11) was the losing pitcher.  He served up 4 homeruns in his 8
innings.  

With this win, Chicago-NL has a 45-51 record.  They have been 6-4 lately.
With the loss, the Pittsburgh ballclub's record is 47-49.
