The Chicago-NL Cubs got by the Boston-AL Red Sox in 12 innings at Huntington
Ave Grnds.  The final score was 6 to 4.

Both teams had scored 4 runs after nine full innings.  Chicago-NL won it in
the 12th inning.  Danny Hoffman led off the inning for Chicago-NL when he
delivered a single.  Hoffman took second on a stolen base.  Donie Bush then
laid down a sacrifice bunt.  Jack Lelivelt stepped in and he was walked
intentionally.  Chicago-NL continued their aggressive style with another
stolen base.  Eddie Plank kept the inning going and laced a single scoring
two teammates.  Chicago-NL totaled 11 hits on the afternoon.  

The victory went to Plank(14-6) who went 3 innings, allowing no runs. Chief
Bender(5-12) was tagged with the loss in relief.  He gave up 2 hits and 1
walk in 1 and 1/3 innings.  

Wth the win Chicago-NL now has a record of 45-47.  Still in a bad slump, with
this loss, Boston-AL is 2-8 lately and 29-63, worst in the division on the
year.
