Tris Speaker had 4 hits and scored 3 times as the powerful Philadelphia
Athletics beat the Brooklyn Dodgers by a score of 11 to 2.

Philadelphia took the lead off Nick Cullop in the first inning with 2 runs on
2 hits.  Bill Carrigan got things going when he drew a walk.  Speaker
followed next and he singled.  Speaker took second on the throw.  Jimmy Walsh
then hit a deep fly which plated a run.  One out later, Home Run Baker came
to bat and drew a walk.  Frank Laporte stepped into the box and ripped a
one-base hit scoring the final run of the inning.  Philadelphia ended up with
18 hits for the game while Brooklyn had 9.  

Al Demaree(9-4) picked up the victory, allowing no runs in 5 innings. Demaree
got relief help from Guy Morton who gained credit for his 7th save.
Cullop(7-10) took the loss.  His ERA increased from 3.92 to 4.45 as he
allowed 8 runs in 1 and 2/3 innings.  

The winning ways continue for Philadelphia.  They now have a record of 8-2 in
recent days.  With the loss, Brooklyn has a record of 5-5 lately, 46-43
overall.
