The St. Louis Cardinals and the New York Yankees locked up in an exciting
one-run game at Yankee Stadium.  The final score was the St. Louis Cardinals
8, the New York Yankees 7.

St. Louis had the winning rally in the top of the 8th inning scoring 3 runs on
3 base hits.  Ferris Fain led off and started the attack as he drew a walk.
Eddie Yost stepped into the batter's box and he drew a walk.  Dave Philley
then delivered a single bringing in a run.  Philley took second on the throw.
Jerry Priddy followed next and he smacked a one-base hit as two more runners
crossed the plate.  St. Louis had 10 hits for the night.  

The victory was credited to Ken Trinkle(2-3) who went 2 innings, allowing 1
run. Bubba Harris recorded his 15th save.  The losing pitcher was Ned
Garver(5-5) in relief.  He struggled with his control issuing 7 walks in 4
innings.
