Wilbur Cooper was able to finish what he started and was credited with a
complete game and right fielder Benny Kauff cracked a homer and had 3 RBI as
the amazing Detroit Tigers topped the Chicago Cubs by a score of 12 to 3 at
Navin Field.
Kauff enjoyed a fine day at the plate. He hit a bases-empty home run in the
1st inning, doubled which scored a run in the 2nd inning and singled which
plated a run in the 5th inning. The Detroit offense man-handled the Chicago
pitching staff as they scored in 7 of the 9 innings.
The victory went to Cooper(9-3) who went the distance allowing 3 runs. Russ
Ford(9-7) was charged with the loss. He was knocked around, surrendering 7
runs in 4 innings.
