Frank Thomas rocketed 3 homeruns and had 5 RBI at Griffith Stadium where the
Cleveland Indians beat the Washington Nationals by the score of 12 to
4.

Thomas propelled Cleveland to victory.  He blasted a solo shot in the 6th
inning, smacked a three-run homer in the 7th inning and delivered a solo
blast in the 9th inning.  Cleveland kept the pressure on throughout the
contest as they scored in 6 different innings.  

Paul Foytack(6-11) got credit for the victory, pitching 8 and 1/3 innings and
allowing 4 runs. Don Newcombe(8-9) was tagged with the loss.  He was not very
effective, surrendering 8 runs in 6 and 2/3 innings.  

'I had a big day, but there's a lot of credit to go around' Thomas said.  'We
played well together as a team.'
