The streaking Detroit Tigers edged the St. Louis Browns at Sportsman'S Park by
the score of 4 to 3.
Detroit plated all the runs they needed in the 5th inning when they scored 4
runs on 2 hits. The key offensive moment was provided by Dutch Zwilling who
disappointed the partisan crowd when he belted a three-run homer. St. Louis
made it exciting in the 9th, but they were unable to push the needed runs
across.
The winning pitcher was Jack Warhop(9-2) who allowed 3 runs in 8 and 2/3
innings. Dutch Leonard recorded the save, his 3rd. Ray Caldwell(10-2) was
given the loss. He was the victim of a defensive lapse and did not allow an
earned run in the game.
'We lose our concentration for one pitch, and we lose the game.' Tim Singer
said after the game. 'Maybe now these guys will listen when I say they have
to concentrate on EVERY pitch.'
