Charlie Maxwell blasted 2 homeruns and had 5 RBI and Frank Lary allowed Jim
Murphy to rest his bullpen, tossing a complete game as the Kansas City
Athletics destroyed the Chicago-NL Cubs by a score of 15 to 5 at Wrigely
Field.

Maxwell enjoyed a great day at the plate.  He launched a three-run homer in
the 1st inning, laced a one-base hit in the 3rd inning, clubbed a two-run
home run in the 6th inning and singled in the 8th inning.  Kansas City bats
were hot in the 1st inning tallying 3 runs, the 4th inning scoring 3 runs,
the 6th inning when they had 3 runs on 3 hits, the 8th inning with 3 runs and
the 9th inning which saw them plate 3 runs on 3 hits.  Kansas City had a
total of 13 hits for the game.  

The victory went to Lary(9-7) who went the distance allowing 5 runs. Sam
Jones(2-3) was charged with the loss.  He struggled with his control issuing
8 walks in 3 and 2/3 innings.
