Shortstop Harvey Kuenn touched them all and had 2 RBI and Bob Rush completed
the game without help from the bullpen as the Washington Nationals pulled out
a win over the Pittsburgh Pirates by a score of 8 to 7 at Griffith
Stadium.

The game was won by Washington when they scored a run in the bottom of the 9th
inning.  Johnny Temple laced a one-base hit.  Kuenn struck out, unable to
help the rally.  After another out, Gus Bell then drew a walk.  Harry Simpson
followed and he slapped a single resulting in a mighty exciting win for
Washington and the 13,207 home town fans in attendance.  The Washington
offense smacked the Pittsburgh pitching staff around, scoring in 7 of the 9
innings.  

The winning pitcher was Rush(8-3) who allowed 7 runs for the game. Moe
Drabowsky(2-2) was the losing pitcher in relief.  

Wth the win Washington now has a record of 45-38.  With the loss, the
Pittsburgh ballclub's record is 40-43.
