Frank Schulte had 4 hits and 2 RBI as the impressive Philadelphia-AL Athletics
defeated the pathetic Washington Nationals in 11 innings 7 to 6 at Shibe
Park.

Both teams were tied at 5 runs apiece after nine innings. Philadelphia-AL was
victorious in the 11th inning. After an out was recorded, Tris Speaker
reached on an error. Speaker took second on a stolen base. Fred Merkle then
lined a single giving Philadelphia-AL the victory and sending the 8,743
home-town fans home happy. Philadelphia-AL had 16 hits for the game and
Washington had 11.

Frank Lange(12-6) was the winner allowing no runs in 1 inning. Smoky Joe
Wood(7-9) took the loss in relief. He was pinned with the loss despite not
allowing an earned run in his 1 and 1/3 innings of work.
