The Washington Nationals nipped the Brooklyn Dodgers 6 to 5 at Griffith
Stadium in a hard fought contest.

Washington jumped on top of Brooklyn in the 7th inning scoring a single run.
Brooklyn had a chance to come back in the 9th but they came up short.

The victory was credited to Warren Spahn(14-9) who went 8 and 1/3 innings,
allowing 5 runs. Roy Face earned the save, his 17th. Don Drysdale(5-5) was
the losing pitcher in relief.

'Some losses are harder to take than others' Jeff Pasley lamented after the
game. 'This was one of them.'
