Gene Woodling blasted a homerun and had 3 RBI and Vern Law had a complete game
as the New York-AL Yankees topped the Cincinnati Reds by a score of 5 to 4 at
Yankee Stadium.

Cincinnati was unable to recover after New York-AL went ahead in the 5th
inning when they came up with 2 runs on 3 hits.  The critical plate
appearance was by Woodling who elicited a roar from the hometown fans when he
lifted one out of the park for a two run home run.  The Cincinnati bats were
silent in the 9th.  

Law(4-3) was the winner allowing 4 runs for the game. Ray Crone(7-6) was
charged with the loss.  He gave up 8 hits and 3 walks in 6 innings.
