Dick Williams cracked a homer and had 3 RBI as the Kansas City Athletics
crushed the Washington Nationals 16 to 6.

Washington was unable to recover after Kansas City went ahead in the 5th
inning when they tallied 3 runs on 4 hits.  The key at-bat was by Gus
Triandos who deflated the spirits of the home town crowd when he delivered a
base-hit plating two runs.  Kansas City lit up the scoreboard in the 6th
inning which saw them score 6 runs on 4 hits.  Kansas City had many
opportunities throughout the game and scored in 6 separate innings.  

The win went to Lew Burdette(21-4) who allowed 5 runs in 7 innings. Joe
Nuxhall(2-4) was the losing pitcher.  He was touched for 11 hits and 8 walks
in 6 innings.
