In a good matchup it was the streaking Detroit Tigers 11, the St. Louis Browns
8 at Sportsman'S Park.
Doc Ayers(13-5) gave a fine effort for Detroit. He surrendered 7 hits and 1
walk in 6 innings. Detroit finished with 17 hits while St. Louis ended up
with 13.
Rube Bressler earned his 16th save. The loss was charged to Rube
Marquard(4-11). He allowed a few too many baserunners giving up 12 hits and
3 walks in 4 and 1/3 innings.
Detroit won for the 9th straight time. Tim Singer was upset but philosophical
about the loss. 'Sometimes you run into a team that's on a roll. This was
one of those times.'
