WEB GEMS- Top 7th: Dick Groat robbed Al Smith of a base hit.

Roy McMillan had 5 hits and 4 RBI at Municipal Stadium as the red-hot Brooklyn
Dodgers embarrassed the Cleveland Indians by the lopsided score of 16 to
0.

McMillan was a seemingly constant irritant to the hometown fans as he provided
much of the offense for the visitors. He doubled in the 1st inning, doubled
in the 3rd inning, banged out a single which brought home a run in the 6th
inning, tripled which was good for two runs in the 7th inning and stroked a
base-hit which scored a run in the 8th inning. Brooklyn kept the
scorekeepers busy in the 6th inning which saw them score 7 runs on 6 hits and
the 8th inning with 5 runs on 6 hits. Cleveland was out-hit by Brooklyn, 20
hits to 3.

Curt Simmons(12-6) got credit for the victory, pitching 5 innings and allowing
no runs. Simmons got help from Ted Abernathy who earned his 1st save.
Vinegar Bend Mizell(7-7) took the loss. He got hammered, allowing 10 hits
and 6 walks in 6 innings.

McMillan said, 'It was just all timing. I had pretty good rhythm at the plate
today. You've got to take advantage of mistakes when you can. A couple
pitches were definitely up a little bit - right in my zone.'
