Charlie Maxwell launched 2 homeruns and had 7 RBI and Frank Lary pitched a
complete game as the smoking-hot Kansas City Athletics clobbered the
outmatched slumping New York-AL Yankees, 18 to 2.

It seemed that New York-AL pitching was serving up softballs for Maxwell to
hit. He laced a one-base hit which was good for two runs in the 2nd inning,
belted a three-run homer in the 3rd inning and clubbed a two-run home run in
the 4th inning. Kansas City bats were very productive in the 2nd inning with
5 runs on 4 hits and the 4th inning which saw them plate 4 runs on 4 hits.
Kansas City simply wore out the New York-AL pitching staff, scoring in 6
different innings.

The victory was credited to Lary(11-8) who went the distance, allowing 2 runs.
Johnny Kucks(6-12) was tagged with the loss. He served up 4 gopher balls in
6 innings.
