Doc Crandall pitched a complete game as the Boston Red Sox bested the Brooklyn
Dodgers 8 to 2 at Ebbets Field.

Brooklyn was unable to climb back into it after Boston went ahead for good in
the top of the 3rd inning plating 2 runs on 3 hits. After an out was
recorded, Crandall began the rally when he banged out a single. Crandall
then stole second base. Lee Magee then hit a single. Hans Lobert followed
next and he lashed a single bringing in a run. Shoeless Joe Jackson stepped
into the box and hit a sacrifice fly scoring the final run of the inning.
Boston had 15 hits for the afternoon.

Crandall(6-4) picked up the complete game victory, allowing 2 runs. Jeff
Pfeffer(16-10) absorbed the loss. He got hit hard, allowing 11 hits and 2
walks in 7 innings.
