Shoeless Joe Jackson had 5 hits and Jim Shaw had a strong outing at Ebbets
Field as the Boston Red Sox beat the Brooklyn Dodgers by the count of 4 to
3.

Boston scored the deciding run in the top of the 8th inning.  Rabbit
Maranville doubled.  Shaw stepped up to the plate and he laid down a
sacrifice bunt.  Zip Collins then hit a deep fly scoring the run.  Brooklyn
made it exciting in the 9th, but they were unable to push the needed runs
across.  

Shaw(3-3) went 4 innings allowing no runs for the win. Shaw got help from
Mellie Wolfgang who was credited with his 24th save.  Bullet Joe Bush(7-6)
was given the loss.  He was hit hard and gave up 15 hits and 3 walks in 9
innings.
