John Hummel had 2 base hits as the Chicago Cubs bested the woeful Washington
Nationals in 12 innings 3 to 2 at West Side Park.

The score was tied at 2 after nine.  Chicago was victorious in the 12th
inning.  Beals Becker tripled.  Bill McKechnie came to the plate and
delivered a one-base hit resulting in an exciting win for Chicago and a wild
post-game celebration by the home town fans.  Chicago finished with 8 hits in
the victory.  

Russ Ford(13-10) went 2 innings allowing no runs for the win. Boardwalk
Brown(0-5) absorbed the loss in relief.  He pitched 1 and 2/3 innings giving
up 2 hits and no walks.
